For dog coats, materials such as fleece or wool blends are ideal as they provide warmth and are lightweight. Waterproof fabrics such as nylon or polyester are also beneficial to protect the dog from getting wet. A breathable cotton lining provides additional comfort and prevents overheating.

Dog breeds with little body fat or thin fur, such as dachshunds, chihuahuas and breeds without an undercoat, particularly benefit from a dog coat. Older dogs or those with health problems can also benefit from additional protection against the cold. Smaller dog breeds are often more sensitive to the cold and therefore also need a dog coat more often.

When measuring, make sure that your dog is standing upright to get the most accurate measurement result possible.

1. Back length: Use a tape measure to measure the length of the back between the base of the neck and the base of the tail. You can use the lower edge of the collar as a guide.
2. Neck circumference: Measure the neck circumference at the widest point. Do not measure too tightly as there is still a little room
3. Chest circumference: To measure your chest circumference, also measure the widest part of your chest.
